Default Second thoughts

Originally my plan was to build myself a 408 stroker. After looking around at costs for a rotating assembly, intake manifolds, heads, cam etc, the price is really getting up there unfortunantly, and at this point in my life I dont think investing this much money into just my motor would be considered finacially smart haha though nothing we do here is. So heres my options, I could go ahead with the 408 build and have who knows how much $$ into the motor. Or I could do this, since I already have the heads, intake, and some random sensors removed, I could throw on some arp fasteners, cam, springs, maybe some heads, and perhaps an intake, and go forced induction this spring. Or I could just throw some sort of FI on the 5.3 and build up the 408 over the next few years. I really dont know what to do guys. I want the best bang for the buck, but Im also looking to kick some serious rice burner ***. So tell me what you guys would do in this situation so let me here your opinions guys. I also plan on going to school next fall so I have to start saving money for that. Opinions, and critism is well welcomed

370 is the cheapest way to get some cubes and can always FI it later.
You'd likely be plenty happy with some FI on the 5.3... FOr a while

For every 14.7psi of boost you double the displacement of your engine. Strenghten what you already own and add boost until you have the engine size you want!

Looking around on car-parts(.)com I noticed that 6Ls are pretty darned cheap in your area. By looking at your sig picture, I think you should go for inches before you go for FI. I'd say put together a budget you're comfortable with and go from there. You can definitely put more power in your truck for a few bucks, it's just a question of how much, both power and bucks. If it were me, I'd prioritize the parts selection as 1 block, 2 cam, 3 heads, 4 intake, and then if you really wanna go ape after that, stroker parts and FI. But that's just me. Good luck with your project, I'll be keeping score at home.

Yeah Im lowered 4 inches out back over stock and 2 inches up front now, shes a street queen. So I guess spoolin is saying to strengthen what I got, so forged top end in the LQ4, throw a cam, and springs, maybe heads, and blow this bitch, the more I think about the better this idea seems

I just pretty much made the same decision as you did...I have a 6.0 block punched out and ready for a rotating assy but its gonna be lots of $$$$ to finish...Id then need a bigger clutch, trans gone thro, and need to that a drive shaft built and get the 14 bolt all set up...

so I said hell with it...bought a fully dressed 5.3 with 77k on it for $350 bucks...gonna drop it in, and slap on the turbo and run it...gonna have fun with the truck and then if I get bored with it Ill finish the motor...

Id just build your motor over time IMO

Normally, people only refer to a forged bottom end. The upper is just a "Top End."

To be the voice of reason, I agree w/. JakeBrake, sorta. Save up your $. Since you're goin to school, make sure that is squared away 1st. After, save up for a built tranny. Then slowly build 6L how u want. F/I is gonna get pricey quick. Cause 1st you'll try it out; then push it harder. Then pop! Byebye 60e. Now u gotta scrape for a built 60e. Foundation 1st IMO. Go from there Zach.

JakeBIH, $350 - nice score.

That formula for success that I posted above is what continues to give honda and toyota owners hope.
