Default School me on Tahoes

Hey everyone. I am looking for a truck for my wife. She wrecked her SLK a and wants something bigger.

Tahoes are in the running, so I came here looking for general info on problems, reliability, safety etc. That 2002 ABS recall looks like fun!

Anyhow, any feedback on the things one should look for when scouring the lots for Tahoes feel free to post up. I have been looking for normal things, like leaking diffs, valvetrain clatter and so on.

I'm thinking 2002-2005 2wd 5.3 leather and a couple of options is what would suit us best. Also anything you should expect to deal with in the course of its life beyond normal maintainance would be nice.

I'd rather end up with one of these than an RX300 or an X5...

Go for an 07 model 100% better then the others. GM has a $2000 rebate on them now dealerships are offiering more savings as well. My local dealership has a 07 Tahoe 4WD, Remote start, Sunroof, cloth listed for $29,895 as of yesterday it was still on the lot with 22 miles on it. You ca pickup a nice LT with leather for around $34-35k and some other goodies.

2002 w/ 70K miles. I've had nothing break that wasn't caused by me.

(Except the passenger side driving light, LOL)

new ones are nice. Great warranty. Only $15,000.00 more.

I know you said 4X2 but, Example: Z71 Tahoe

......Depends on the mileage you're willing to accept and your budget.

My 03 has just under 80k. Besides the tranny (which was my fault, or whipple's depending on how you look at it) the only things that I've had to replace were the gauge cluster, blower motor and the a/c compressor.

Thanks for the input. Anyone else?

07 costs double a cood condition low mile 05. I don't like payments, unless
they are for a mortgage. They look killer though, I will say that.

Best truck i've ever had, like sitting on my couch @ 80mph, no rattles or anything. Never left me stranded, use it alot for sking, camping, towing, going fast. Would buy one again in a heartbeat. You can work on them just like a car. Lots of room.

wifey has an 01 that we bought 3 years ago. it had 18k miles on it. its fully loaded besides the moonroof. we love it to death . it now has 64000 miles no problems at all. that ABS thing. if you get it. take care of that asap. it went out on wifeys and it ran the battery down. but other than that.. nada. runs like a champ.. she can hang with me even now. we race all the time. those heated leather seats are great. i would strongly suggest the 2nd gen tahoe. it has a tigh turning radius too. we can get in and out easily. it drives like a car really. easy to manuever but with that LS1 power

5 months ago we got an 01 lt. it had 85k on it and allready has 95K now. we like it so much we actualy look for road trips to take. if i had known how nice these things are i would have had one many years ago. easy to drive, smooth, quiet. being able to load up a pile of people is awsume.

it even tows prety good. we have made a few trips with 5 people inside, a pile of gear and 6500lb's behind the truck. i think i will get a weight distrubiting hitch if i do much more towing just to level things out but other than that it tows nicely.
