Question ?'s about 292s

I installed my fans yesterday after work. Should they be running all the time or just when the motor heats up. I have checked all the wiring. The only time I have seen them run is with the a/c on. I ran it for a while today without the a/c, they never came on. Temp came up to where it is normally at on the gauge. Do they not come on till you are starting to overheat or what. I was out there revving it up trying to get it hot to see if they would come on. But it would not get any hotter than normal. I am running the VSC from FAL. I plan on getting a Nelson harness, Allen already has the pcm tuned for them.

i'd like to know also, i just bought a new 34'' rad and 05 e-fans and have a nelson harness ordered. allen did mail me telling me to run a 160 * t-stat (which i already have) and the temps should hang around 175-180*. I noticed the factory gauge isnt accurate at all. When it reads 210* my interceptor reads 190*. Do you have a nother way to monitor engine temp?

The factory guage is all I have. Mine normally hovers around the 200 mark. I don't think I have ever seen it sitting straight up on the 210 mark. That is with factory stat, I need to get a 160.

They should only come on if the thermostat or the **** that is on the VSC is set on the temp you select. Did you turn the **** to the coolest setting?? They should come on if you select the coldest setting. I went through 3 of these. I have a brand new one in the tool box that is for whatever....I then got fedup with the VSC thing and got the harness from Allen. I went through two of these due too one a bad relay and the other was my fault !!! I installed the last hraness from Allen and haven't had any probs with it . I would get rid of the VSC ASAP!!

I Have the POS VSC also, Been thru two of them. on some the pot that you turn to adjust the temp is white, some blue. on one the cool setting is clockwise the other is counter clockwise. I Forget whats what, so try turning it the other way. but with your truck up to temp they should cycle on and off. do you have the probe up by the top hose & is the radiator coolant level high enough to heat where the probe is? while i'm driving on the highway mine doesn't come on, only when there's not enough wind to cool it, or the A/C is on...

I got them working. They cycle on and off now but not much. The directions say counter clockwise is the cooler setting but mine must be clockwise, that is the only way they would come on. Thanks for the help.
