This engine has a very small filter on it and I've been wanting a larger filter since I tend to go 5k miles between oil changes. I'm running M1 5w-30. Thanks.

yes and it is a longer filter. but it will not work on the 07 classic or new body style. the threads are diffrent. trust me i tried it and tried it and tried it then relized hmmm.... maybe its the wrong filter. this goes for the short or long styles.
here are the part numbers of the filters i would use.

purolator L25288
pure one PL25288
ac delco pf59 (no longer made)
napa gold/wix 1522

Thanks a bunch 4.8T, that helps. Now I know what to ask for. Too bad I just changed the oil yesterday, although I may go back and get the longer filter and just top off the oil afterwards...

did you go to rp's web site. its there filmstrength that makes them great.400% stronger. a site i found did a test and the put a c5 on a dyno drained the oil and filled it with m1 and did two runs. then drained the oil and put in the purple and got the oil to the same temp and ran two more run and gained 3.8hp and 4.3 (i think it was) torque

There was also a test done by GM High tech mag a few years ago where fresh conventional Quaker State produced the same dino numbers as Royal Purple. They switched old oil for the QS and picked up power. They switched the QS for the Royal Purple and gained nothing.

I researced this topic and found Pennzoil Platinium to be the best overall choice. This was chosen by someone in the know for oil. Dont remember his name, but he is on this site occasionally. Never ran Amsoil in my truck, I have RP in the engine and Redline 50W in the blower. I plan on throwing some Pennzoil Platium in tom. when I change the oil.

I run Mobil-1 in the Tahoe and have forever in every engine that's been in there. One time, two years ago, I listened to a co-worker salesman who I thought I trusted and thought was my friend who talked me into running Kendall GT-1 in it. 1500 miles later I spun two mains ont he stock shortblock 350. Coincidence? I found out later that GT-1 has just about the most pathetic temperature tollerance of all synthetic ont he market.

I am back to running Mobil-1 now.
Independant testing reports I have read say that Royal Purple and Amsoil test very well, but Royal Purple insn't as convenient to buy as Mobil-1 and I have no complaints about Mobil-1 anyway - it works.
I have never bought Amsoil because I am turned off by their cultish and almost religious marketing methodology. They have a funny way of making you feel like you'd be a retarded idiot if you do not buy their product. No thanks.

I'm with Grippy about the Shell Rotella oils. I've done the M1, Syntec, etc...while these are quality oils with outstanding sheer, viscosity, film strength properties, etc...I've had great sucess with Rotella-T 5w-40. For the price it's hard to beat.
