Ricerfag excuses

I always like when you come back into the stageing lanes and the ricers will not talk to anyone that is not a ricer. I also got a kick out of my evil ex-girlfriends supercharged civic that would pull 13's and wax the fart-pipe-powered Hondas, you know the ones with more money in body mods then power mods.
Sticking feathers in your butt does not make you a chicken. Putting a shoping cart handle of a wing on your car does not make it a race car.

HMX,
You have an STi?? Either way, the WRX is a stout machine. With a little effort in mods those cars are crazy!!
Test drove one a while back for the hell of it. Wish I had one. They are road huggin little bastards too!

Test drove one a while back for the hell of it. Wish I had one. They are road huggin little bastards too! The STi is a very wicked car but has a few things I do not like: that spoiler "whale tail" has got to go; it needs a slightly taller final drive ratios OR a higher rev limiter as you need a 2-3 upshift for the 0-60MPH run OR a slightly taller 2nd gear; it needs to come with a radio; and an option for a nice automatic.
I haven't driven one, yet, but my vehicle is up for the 25K mi service very soon so when it is down there I may go harass the sales guy for a lil' "test".

The two parts I am about to install (Unichip and Downpipe) add close to 60rwhp! That will make that lil' car have around 310hp...not too bad for 3100 lbs. After I drive it like that until the new year, I will toss on a header and uppipe then a front mount intercooler. Should be around 340hp then.
Everytime I drive it, I leave with a smile on my face...I can't wait to see the differences with some big power gains.

You'll notice the power gains with that downpipe and chip, but remember, we're talkin 4 wheels here. I've had enough whiplash in the past two years with them to pretty much tell ya where youre goin lol
down pipe, up pipe, chip, front mount, upgraded fuel pump/injectors, keychain turbo swap, piggie backed comp, blah blah blahhhh, 18lbs, and a replaced tranny later.....
I can pretty much tell ya what to expect.

What plans/goals do you have with it?

Later: ported/balanced with ballbearing center IHI VF35 turbo (same compressor as VF30/34 but smaller P15 exhaust end for faster spool). Walbro pump. PE650 high impedance injectors. Perrin rails. Level 10 valve body then wait for trans to toss center diff, then a hard-core rebuild.
Few suspension stuff: BFG G-Force KD's (very soon!), Perrin or Cusco sway bars, and STi V8 springs and struts. Maybe 4pot front calipers, stainless lines. Strut bar braces.
If I get REALLY silly: 9.5:1 comp 2.5L, STi late V7 or 8 heads, 258* cams, AVCS (need JDM engine harness and ECU), and probably some large turbo...what size I dunno like a 20G probably!
What order of the parts depends. That DP and Unichip should make a killer difference. I need tires soon so I may get get stainless brake lines and sway bars then. Then back to header+uppipe. I am gonna keep boost around 16.5psi and run my EGT off No. 4 as that seems the most failure prone.
Luckily I have a 4EAT not that glass M5 so I don't need to worry about breaking the 2nd or 3rd gears. Think that DP+Unichip should kick *** pretty well for a first mod?

good deal....
looks like youre pretty much taking the standard route that i've seen. Friends sportin the VF30 as well as the APS FMIC, perrin rails and sti injectors. he's still on the factory manual tranny, regardless that it costed 5k for him to replace it lol....
do texas a favor and go with internals, i have yet to see (with my own eyes) an 11 second wrx, unfortunately not due to the cars, but the fact that most wrx owners dont like to get oil on their hands lol......externals are great and dandy but honestly those cars hit the wall fast. What i mean is, they can only go so far before internals are necessary to get anywhere, and by that time most of them are satisfied with mid/high 12s.
nonetheless a fun car with good potential thats deadly in the 60', but definitely not cheap to modify

BUT with that compression and torque it may haul *** real fast as the stall converter will be able to flash stall pretty high. The converters for these cars are rated at 4100rpms but only flash to 2600rpms. So with all that input torque I'd bet it would get well over 3000rpms!
I picked up my Invidia DP yesterday night...it is cat free too!

All I know is it really depends on what you wanna do...... if you wanna abuse the poor thing and completely ignore all potential, just race the quarter mile. But if going straight for 12 seconds isnt your thing, look into dirt, concrete and cones
If you ever want to go the 1/4 rate, just remember, you're gonna be pissed when you realize you coulda got your truck to run just .5 tenths slower for what you just spent.
Anyway, if your roadcourse id say definitely play with suspension, stick to externals and the VF30, and your 4EAT will have a longer life. Upgrade that fuel to match boost, but mainly id focus on suspension and drivetrain. Thats what i'd pretty much do. Though I'd get a real turbo and put the VF30 etc on my keychain
I mentioned going internals simply for the 1/4, something you dont see TOO often here, other than that, forget it. If you're wondering why im blabbling its pretty much because everytime i've looked into a friends mag with WRX parts/or ask him "how much did that cost?", i usually end it with laughing and some head shaking. After I find out the price, I usually like to point out what i could throw on the truck for that, and what kinda performance i'd get out of it. Yeah i'm real inspiring when it comes to people who spend big dough and get small performance. A lot of the aftermarket import world to me, is one big Borla. You're paying for the name, and not much else. The cars are fun as crap to play around with though, and fascinates me to gas it in rain and not spin!?! If I had one of those i'd definitely be in some road course clubs. But ima sucker for top end so, naturally that awd wouldnt help me get my fix...
