Default rgvsierra vs shark_g

Last night myself and file headed out to line the trucks up. Just a little info before i begin.. I have a 2001 Sierra with the 5.3, 3:73/g80, File has a 2002 5.3, 3:73/eaton.. Both of us have the Hpp, the crank pulley, I have a fipk, he has a upd, i have Hamm Headers, he has a magnaflow 3"inch catback..

we raced a total of 4 time if i remember correctly,

race 1, we went from a complete stop, result was file spun like crazy and i hooked up after a little spinning. guess it wasent really a race..

race 2 , we went from a roll, about 25, i pulled on him,

race 3, we went from another roll about 20, this race was just about dead even till file started pulling at the end..

race 4, we went between 45 and 50, this race ended up going to 100 with me being at his door the whole time..

maybe file can do better explaining, that kinda sucked.

the whole time i had some detonation going on, those marbles just kept on going on and on, need to get that solved. maybe some TEC will do.

i never believed the 02's were that much faster till now.. i guess they should be rated at 290, lol..

we will be lining them up again maybe next week, once file gets his ASM's installed and i get a cutout, then see what kinda differenced those asm's make. i cant wait..

I have to admit, all were very good and close races. I know you would have pulled on me bad if you had a good cat back exhaust.
As far as your pinging goes there are several things you might want to try.

1. higher octane
2. change your plugs maybe for some colder spark plugs(NGK tr-6)
3. colder thermostat
4. clean your fule system
5. check for leaks in you K&N intake kit
6. If you are running a little lean, try turning your maf around backwords. Doing this will richen you up a little bit.

Hope this helps.....

You might want to also check this TSB.

1998-2002 Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette
1998-2002 Pontiac Firebird
with 5.7L Engine (VIN G -- RPO LS1)

1999-2002 Chevrolet Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe
2002 Chevrolet Avalance
1999-2002 GMC Sierra, Yukon, Yukon XL
2002 Cadillac Escalade, Escalade EXT
with 4.8L, 5.3L or 6.0L Engine (VINs V, T, Z, N, U -- RPOs LR4, LM7, L59, LQ9, LQ4)

This bulletin is being revised to add Cadillac Escalade and Cadillac Escalade EXT to the Models. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 02-06-04-023 (Section 6 -- Engine/Propulsion System).

Condition
Some customers may comment on a mild to severe engine ping (commonly referred to as spark knock), usually worse during acceleration and/or an illuminated MIL. Upon investigation, the technician may find DTC P0332 set.

Cause
This condition may be the result of corrosion of the rear bank knock sensor due to water intrusion into the sensor cavity. This condition is more apparent on vehicles in which customers frequently wash the engine compartment.

Correction
Replace the rear bank knock sensor and build a dam (wall) around the sensor using RTV to divert water away from the sensor.
