I must have missed that post. Where? My little brother didn't pick it up this morning like he said he would. We both might need another source.

Hey guys. I live in Bastrop (near Austin) and I go to school in Houston. Which salvage yards are you finding these motors at? Is it a word-of-mouth deal or are you searching for them?
FYI, if I find an LQ4 that's a steal, I'm gonna yank the LT1 out of Kitt and put in the LQ4. So I can trade too. I'm not in any rush though...

lol..I'm actually going for Kitt w/a Twist. Hence, the new motor...I want the best performing Kitt-Inspired Trans Am
Well I work at a GM dealership, so I'll keep my eyes open for any 6.0's. Used would be cheaper for me, but I'll let ya'll know of any deals I come across...

I would appreciate it. That car will be pretty fun with a 6.0 and forced induction.

lol, yup. Hell I haven't even finished the LT1 swap and I'm already thinking I made a mistake, lol. The Lq4 has more power out of the box, stock
Once I get the swap started, maybe we could meet up somewhere and make some burnout vids. I work at Covert Bastrop BTW.

There really wasn't a post about it on this site, I know Chris from other sites/ he lives down here in LA.
But the place I'm talking about is a lil auto repair/salvage yard by the name of Latino Motors in Donaldsonville, LA. There is also another late model GM salvage yard called Murphy's down here. I could probably make some calls and see what they have in stock right now. Latino Motors usually has a few lq4's and lq9's on hand, as well as trannies and trailblazer stalls

My motor had 52K miles on it and i bought it for 1k. Complete longblock, oil pan to valley cover. Onlye thing it didnt come with was accessories and intake. (just used these of my 4.8 so it didnt matter)

for motors the break down is something like this
over 45K miles:
lq4 $1,000 lq9 $1,200
under 45k: (usually from 12k-20K miles)
lq4 $1,200 Lq9 $1,500

Trannies (from 2k-40K+ miles)
4l60e $500
not sure about 4l80e, will have to check
