Re: removing factory mirrors?
how about just cover the area around it the newspapers and tape? that way you dont have to remove the mirrors at all...
but if you do want to, i think you just remove the door panels and the triangular shape cover adjacent to the mirror and you should have some nuts to unscrew. probably like 3 or so. i took mine of my 98 s-10 when i had them, so i dont think it would be much different. wasnt too hard either...

Re: removing factory mirrors?
covering the areas around the mirrors isn't an option since we use a spray gun and we're outdoors. we'd either have to cover the entire truck or get paint all over the body, windows, and mirrors. that's what we were thinking about to take them off. just trying to get some more knowledgeable opinions befor we start cracking off pieces.

Crazyidiot, it is not as difficult as is might sound. Open the door and there's a triangle trim piece behind the mirror. There are 2 clips holding it in, just pull it firmly until the 2 clips are released, then pull up and remove it. Now pull the foam piece out and there are 3 nuts holding the mirror and the power plug is right between the nuts. Post some pics when you get them painted.
