Rear Axle Swap Question?
I have a 1996 GMC half ton Fleetside with the standard non-posi drum brake rear axle. It has the five on five wheel bolt pattern. I want a complete posi rear disc brake rear axle out of another GM truck or car that will bolt up. Is there such thing? Maybe from a Impala SS, or??? Any body know what will interchange? Check out a 79 Trans Am special edition i think it is.My dad has a 46 street rod that we are building and he bought a rearend that came out of that supposely.I don't know about the bolt pattern I know it is a small chevy but I don't know about the width.If anything check on a rear disk brake setup for yours.
