Question ran into a OBS Cobra today?

what does a 93-94 model all stock cobra run?
I ran into one today, at a red light.
it was an older fella driving, had grey hair anyways.(dont want to offend anyone here, as I have grey hair too)
anyways, the light turns green and I hear him start spinning the tires so I lay into it, I pull about 2-3 car links on him and thats where he stayed untill he let out of it around 80mph. I did not realise it was a cobra untill we got to the next light and he had the front valance with the emblems ,and the rear bumper had COBRA on it. I was very shocked, because I thought they where faster than that.. as far as I could tell it was the real deal. sounded stock though not very loud but it was audible. when we got up to the light he was very impressed and was wanting to know if mine was the supercharged thunder chevy truck that they are selling down here.( at least thats what I hear, kinda like the Joe Gibbs truck, theres a dealership selling it as a special package. This is about the 10th time I have been asked this.)
well he gave me the thumbs up and went on his way. so tell me was I running a GT that somebody had gone to all the trouble of replacing bumpers and emblems or was it really a Cobra?

Nice run.... I see you get traction at intersections. I can't seem to get traction where payment is wornout and shiny.

know those cobras then were nothing really special. 240 hp. The only difference in the mustang gt and the cobra then was the intake which made 20hp claimed. same everything else i believe.

Well they had a better intake, larger TB, 1.7:1 full roller rockers, different cam (not good by anymeans, like a 260/270 117LSA), GT-40 iron heads instead of the POS E7's, rear discs, better T5, and different rear gears. Also they hard larger front discs 13" I believe. 17" wheels std.

'93's came with 24lbs/hr injectors and a 70mm MAF. Comp was specific to the injectors not the MAF. 4 lug all wheel discs.

94-95 Cobras had the 24lbs/hr injectors, and a non comp specific injector and the MAF was flanged. They have different serp system, 5 lug all wheel disc, and the same motor but the intake needs a special elbow. These had Brembo front calipers for sure that have COBRA stamped on the caliper.

Daniel... was it the older 87-93 body or the SN95 the 94-98 looking ones?

it was the 94-98 model before they started blocking it off.
I couldnt remember what year they changed.....

and yes traction right now is not a problem. the worst it gets is some wheel hop. but thats easily controlled with the throttle

Well now you know, you can count on me for Ford info!

The 302 powered Cobras were like the LS1 vs LS6...a mild heads, cam, intake package.

Thats awesome!! I would love to see a truck take down a cobra!! Like Ive said earlier, other than some L's and an EX5 Escalade there are no quick trucks that Ive seen near me. Of course, in the last 4 weeks Ive seen a mint white typhoon and a mint black syclone. Those are BAD!!!

Try letting a little bit of air out of your tires. That might give you a little better hook even.

GreenTahoe: WHat would you think about a truck taking some f-bods heads up?

yeah thats what I do when I am out at the track, but I couldn't actually get out of the truck and tell the guy to wait a minute while I let some air out of my tires.
when driving around town i run 22lbs of air in the back, and go way lower than that at the track
