Ran A Hemi Today
#1
I ran a '04 four door Hemi this morning on the way to work. He has a modded intake tube and filter. The first run was from about 50 mph. I pulled about a truck on him before letting off at about 90 or so. My truck shifted right at 6000 rpm, so that 3-4 shift point did make a difference. We tried again from about 30 and he pulled about a half truck on me that I couldn't make up before I let off around 85 (coming up on traffic). His truck was pulling pretty good when he took off at that speed. We ran again from a dead stop. I spun the tires a little but stayed even with him through first gear, but had him by about a half truck length at 95 where I let off again (I don't trust my tires and still have the stock speed limiter set). I am pretty pleased. Changing the shift points does make a noticeable difference.

I am just a little low on funds right now. As far as my 02 single Cab, I have cam and pretty much done every bolt on possible that works. I think my my next step will be Absalute Speed stage 2 heads for this baby...
BTW, both are indigo step side...

It is not a true 5 speed. It has 2 second gears. It uses one or the other depending on the situation.

The tranny in my 04 is actually a 5 speed with 2 second gears.
1st=3.00
2nd=1.67/1.50
3rd=1.00
4th=.75 1st OD
5th=.67 2nd OD
They probably went to the 2nd OD to get better gas mileage and the 2nd second gear is when you pass some one and kick the tranny down. It uses the 1.67 ratio when accellerating from a stop and the 1.50 ratio when you're already rolling in 3rd or OD. The 1.67 ratio is good to about 80 mph and the 1.50 is good to about 90 mph. I wish DC would have put the tranny that's in the Magnum R/T in the Rams, it's ratio's are lower, it's 4th gear is the 1.00 and it only has one second gears and OD. It's ratio's are something like this.
1st=3.60
2nd=2.50
3rd= 1.67
4th=1.00
5th=.75 OD
I bet it pulls like crazy out of the hole with a 1st gear that low. The tranny in the Ram seems to hunt alot, the 5th gear OD isn't good for any kind of incline, the truck starts to slow down. It's definitly for MPG, not power.
