Default questions

well its friday night, im bored at home and as always thinking about what to do to my truck.

SSsooooooo heres a few questions, as everyone knows i HOPE to get into the 11's one day. i want to do this WITHOUT SPRAY!!! so heres my questions

1. if i run 42lb injectors how will that affect my gas mileage??also can i just swap these out or do i need to retune my truck once i swap them?

2.is there any gain to taking 317 heads and having them worked or would it be easier to run these:http://www.texas-speed.com/shop/item...d=203&catid=47 , also what cam and lsa would you guys suggest???? i was thinking the 220/220 with a 114 lsa, but im still learning, wanting something thats good through the WHOLE RPM range.

3. if i run a SC which one its the best/safest. i've heard of ppl having alot of issues with whipples????

4.how bigg of a torque convertor??? i was thinking a 3000 stall, or 3200. Yank of course

5.how far can i push the 5.3 before it gives?

really wanting to keep the 5.3 and still get ATLEAST 20mpg. right now i think im geting around 25, and thats with my heavy foot that likes to chirp 2nd alot

ALSO i know i've asked it wayyyy too many times, but what would you guys do FIRST, the injectors, heads&cam, convertor, what order would you guys do things??

im working on my Efan harness right now so those are going in soon, and so are my LT's, gota save a lil bit more and i'll be ordering those.

ANY HELP OR ADVICE IS GREATLY APPRECIATED

1. Running larger injectors is pointless unless you're FI and have a built motor. Unless you have a really radical 5.3 then 42 pounders aren't needed.

2. 317 heads, even milled to the max will be too large for a n/a 5.3. I'd look into milled 243's or worked over stock 706 or 853 heads.

3. Don't know a lot about superchargers but you can't go wrong with a Radix or a Procharger.

4. Stall speed is dependent of what you want to achieve. I'm running a Yank SS3600 and love it for my application. I'm planning on heads/cam down the road and I have a 4.8 so it fits the bill. 3200 is a little more streetable though IMO but the 3600 isn't bad at all.

5. Search for the 5.3's and you'll see what they can do. Ls-based engines can take a beating

I'd recommend the converter first; then decide on what heads you want to run and maybe give Richard at WCCH a call. Then I'd give someone like Patrick G. on Tech to spec you out a cam that will work perfectly for your application.
