Question about vacuum loss........

Ok, so now I'm seeing GM did away with the electric pop can on the brake booster and went with a regular check valve in '06 as seen on this members truck below. Is this a drum brake thing? Could I safely convert my truck over to this setup if I want? It sure looks a lot cleaner under the hood, that's for sure.

I don't see why you couldn't safely do the conversion, as you mentioned the cannister is only a safety backup device in case the engine dies. I've seen those cans before and wondered what they were for...I figured that it was obviously a vacuum reservior, but didnt know what for. I wonder if that thing is monitored by the BCM or something and will trip some sort of code if it's dis-connected? If it did it could easily be remedied by installing the appropriately sized resistor in it's place to fool said ecu.

Meh, before tearing into everything too far I've decided I'm throwing the 90mm intake back on. If this problem is still occuring then I'll worry about it then. Now just waiting for some intake and other misc parts
