I was a regular on here when I had my 06 GMC and various other toys/hot rod trucks.... Since then I got a new 2011 Silverado and then sold it and got out of the nice vehicle game, I'm sort of back... Picked up a 2004 3/4 ton Suburban at the beginning of the month to build into a camping/towing/weekend vehicle, I drive a company car all week. It's an 8.1/4L80E/4x4 so it's pretty fun to start with... We'll see how carried away I get, I don't have the funds I used to with a career change and kiddos running around.
It needs some work and some more TLC appearance-wise but I'm happy with the starting point and have a good vision of the project.
Here it is on day one:

Debadging the side trim and tailgate and wet sanded/buffed the talilights:

Put in 1/2 ton keys to level it out in anticipation of the new wheels and tires:

Today I finally got around to putting on the replica wheels and 275/60R20 All Terrain KO2s... still not sold on the black painted inserts but I can always change that down the road. Raining today, I'll get better pics when it clears up and I can clean it up:

Performance plans: Keep it simple, CAI/Tune and I already put on a 24" Magnaflow. No need to do much more, the Raylar stuff looks fun but I have two kids to feed and a mortgage to pay
Appearance plans: Add colormatched bumper cap/handles, an HD hood since mine has some pretty good gouges in it, and a Z71 valance and fogs. Then try to talk my short wife into letting me remove the running boards.
Interior: Right now it's an LS cloth, in great shape but I miss leather and the nicer amenities. Still debating on katzkins (I've done several over the years) or trying to find a Denali XL/Escalade EXT to part out and rob the interior, accesories, and BCM from. Either way leather, heated seats, and a TV at a minimum per the wife...

Very cool that you've hung onto it. There are so many cars that I had in the past that I now regret selling. A 69' SS 396 Chevelle, 69' SS 396 Camaro, 55' Chevy 210 2 Dr post, 67' Nova SS... just to name a few.
