Im on my second optima in like 3 months. I now have to jumpstart my truck everytime I get in. Its dies in the 3 hours between when I get to work and go to lunch. My alt gauge reads fine though. always 13.7 or so. Maybe I need to get a new altornater.
It should be warranteed. Take it back where you got it and they should hand you a brand new one.

after checking your grounds and main battery cables... try mounting everything on the top mounts of the optima.

if your alt gauge is showing you that everything is alright than it could possibly just be some sort of faulty connection. Do you have a stereo system that is putting out over 1000watts?

Well Santa left me a Optima red top battery under the tree. I have heard nothing but good things from them. I'll get to and put it under the test now.

Red = Starting Battery, highest Cranking Amps and Cold Amps
Yellow = Deep Cycle Chemistry (I have one, the amperage is still higher than the stock AC Delco)
Blue = Marine Battery

I think my stereo is just under 1000 watts. I havent made any changes to the electrical system (with the exception of the LS1 fans) for a couple years and the need to jumpstart has just become more and more frequent. I'll check grounds and stuff when I get the chance, hopefully that is all it is.
Thanks

In my opinion, chemistry wise the deep cycle battery is superior. (Lead-Antimony alloy does not suffer from the memory effects like a typical Lead-Calcium based battery)
However, here is the catch, unless you have a monster audio system, or tend to sit in your vehicle for long periods of time without running the engine, i would still recommend the Red-Top, due to its superior warranty vs. the Yellow-Top.

I've always used the red tops, and will never buy another brand. I thought about the yellow top for winching in my last truck, but I stuck with the red top. I love them.
