I agree, a good custom tune will help it out.

One thing I noticed on my truck is how bad temps/humidty affect performance. My truck will vary about 4 tenths in the 1/4 depending on weather coniditions.

very true. But how would they notice any kind of tune? When they put 87 in it and it starts to knock?

If you use a Pred to tune your truck you can simply reinstal the stock tune if you need to go to the stealer.I had a Pred for a while and i just pulled the tune then reinstalled it once i left the dealership. It doesn't take long and the Pred can store your custom tune that you put into it in its memory...that way when you move the shift points and tq man and so fourth you can simply reinstal it without ahving to do it all over again.

How would they notice????
Come on man. They will notice a tune by the way it shifts. The dealership also doesn't drive your vehicles easy either.
Let me put it this way. The service manager told me he likes the firm hard shifts. He asked me what kind of tune was in it.
My tune is pretty obvious. The handheld tunes are really not that noticeable.IMO
They don't put gas in your vehicle. Your supposed to take care of placing the correct fuel in the vehicle. I always bring mine in with at least a 1/4 tank of 93oct fuel. 93oct is all I ever put in my truck. Even with the stock tune it will knock or clatter with 87 or 89 oct fuel in the mid to upper rpm range.

I'm not upset they didn't buy it back, I'm upset they sold a truck claiming that it could tow 7400 lbs when in fact it cannot. Anything over 5000 to 5500 lbs (my jeep cherokee and 18 ft alum car hauler) causes the truck to run about 230 degrees or more if I go above 60 mph ( I have to back off or overheat). There are definatly issues with the E-fan/gear setup they are using now no doubt. I purchased this truck to tow the jeep and that was it, it can't even do that and all GM says is sorry, we can get you into a nice 3/4 but you'll have to take a 5K hit on the truck you purchased 4 months ago. My complaint is why could my f150 do this with 40 hp less and the similar gears (3.55 with 285/70R17s).

Just put some 4.10's in it and be done with it. Then as said above get a good quality tune instead of a handheld and your problems should improve considerably.

3.73's, not 4.10's. 4.10's hurt the mpg's too much for hwy use. The 3.73's would be a good choice. The 3.42's are not gears to pull with. I could have told you 7,000lbs + would be a struggle for that truck.

Actually, 3.73s won't be enough gear I don't think when I go to 285/70R17s like my old truck. I think it will require 4.10s which will be like a 3.90 or so with 265s and 3.73s.

here is my old truck 02 f-150

i liked it..but the chevy is better to me, not to mention sexy as hell.

Nice lookin F-150 there. I do have the latest trans flash out there along with the latest PCM flash. Seems there is definatly an off idle problem, truck is really REALLY sluggish off the line but after the 1-2 shift it hauls the mail. I guess 4.10s will be my next mod but i'll be at almost 1100 dollars with that mod.
