Default Nitto 404 traction?

Anyone running these things and getting good traction from them?

They're cheap as hell and have a treadwear rating of 420. They also have an A traction rating like the Nitto 555r but, I have a hard time believing they'll stick as good as the 555r drag radials.

Any comments on them.

Thanks

Good question. I have a set of 450 extremes that hook pretty well. Of course when you have all wheel drive, its not really an issue.

i have the nittos 404 extreme force suv tires. are these the ones you are talkin about. if you put them to around 28 to 26 psi and turn a few times the grip pretty well.

Not trying to ***** your thread but my Coopers have a 420 treadwear. Does a lower treawear rating makes the tire stickier?

yeah kinda all tread wear is is how long the tire will last tires w/ stickier compounds tend to have lower tread wear and vise versa. and i runn the 404's they work pretty good i us a 285/50/18

I also use the 404's (285/50/18) in the rear and I think they stick alright. Definitely much better than the stockers. I'm sure the 555's would be better for traction, but the 404's have a lot better tread life. I've got about 25,000miles on mine and it looks like I've got another 10k left.

I give the 404 a  They are a really nice, good riding, fairly quiet, great weather traction and pretty good dry traction tire for the price. Not in the same ball park as a drag radial but they do stick farily well in the street. On motor I can nail it from a dead stop and get a little wheel spin then they will hook and go. Cant spray under 20mph though or they will go up in smoke. The only other tire I have to compare them to on this truck is the Yoko AVS/ST and the 404's are head and shoulders above them in every department.

Mine hook up pretty good! I can leave a 25' mark from a stop though, but it has been cool up hear. I have not run them at the track yet. I will let you know this Friday how they do.

Thanks for all the opinions guys. Sounds like they're some pretty good tires for the money.
