Default New Track times for me!!!!

i went to the track the other day for the second time in my life. i ran a 15.780!! i am very happy with that, it's right where i though i would be. the only things that were different from my the first time at the track (16.2) were underdrive pulleys, super servo, and hard tonnuo cover and tailgate off. the next thing on my list of mods was a cam and a nelson tune. im holding off on the cam but i am going to get a nelson tune. what does everyone think the nelson tune will take off my times? the list of all my mods are in my sig.

If you intend on getting a cam why pay for a tune twice?
That truck should be way faster than what you're running unless you have some big ol' superswampers on it.
Have you upgraded your plugs/wires yet? (just trying to help w/ any weak links you may have)

as far as the tune goes, any additions made he'll retune it for free
(thats with the Nelson Tune)

Also your right where you suppose to be in a 5.3 4x4. How are your reaction times and your 60 ft. do you launch in 4wd. also if you get a cam(what kind) alot of them require a stall to make a big difference. with just a tune I would guess .3-.5 seconds off 1/4 times.

I'm unfamiliar w/ Nelson, but I assumed they would tune the comp to make it right and then later on for a reduced price make any upgrades.

How would going to a larger stall effect driveability on the 4wd if you ever decided to use the 4wd?(aside from on the track if you're running in 4 hi)

Grats man!!

You are right where you should be.

If you wanna know what mods will do what take a look at my truck. Your's is ext cab too right?

With the stall and headers I was running 15.0 or there abouts.

With electric fans and 02' Z06 cam I went 14.60@92.8mph

Changed to the 226 cam, and a street tune and went 14.29@96.8mph 2.03 60'. My best mph of the night was 96.98mph and I only dropped below 96.5 once when it was still 85deg out.

My race weight is 4850lbs.

my truck is a ecsb, 3.73 i planned on getting a tt3000 after i got the cam. my cam would be comp cams 216/220 .525/.532 114 lsa. i launced in 2wd when i did a 4x4 launch it was my slowest time. (15.944) i found out that if i acually spin a little off the line i get faster times. the more i spun the faster i got. its not like breaking loose or anything but a little spin. i spun more thats why my reaction time was worse i was hitting consistant .888

reaction 1.049
60ft 2.383
330ft 6.651
1/8 10.197
1/8 mph 70.00
1000' 13.214
1/4 15.780
1/4mph 86.91

Generally if your 60' gets worse your MPH gets better but your ET gets worse. Your ET will ALWAYS get worse if the 60' is higher.

You are at a point where going into full 4wd Hi doesn't help you since you dont get tons of wheelspin. When I was close to stock my best times came from Auto4WD. Once I added the stall and more power I can't use it anymore or the truck feels like it will fall apart. You also cannot launch in 2wd anymore either because once you stall up the converter you will spin to all hell and your ET will suck bad unless you run slicks

Right now I launch in 4wh Hi then imediately switch to 2wd once I start moving to limit how much time I am actually in 4wd and sucking up power.

I think a Nelson Tune with your currant mod's will get you low 15's add the converter and you may see 14's. I would think your 60' times with 4wd would be ? 2.00 or better. You need to YANK it out of the hole. The Nelson tune will probably get your mph up to high 80's in the 1/4 and best of all it will not lay down at 100. ( oops just spotted the hypp3 in your mods, increases will be less than over stock but still worth the $. Helpfull with cam change idle)
Not bad times though you can beat a lot of folks.

Even with a converter I doubt he can get better than a 2.0 60' without some other serious mods. Maybe with a nice low end grunt cam but I can't even get a 1.9 60' yet and I only weigh 4850lbs and launch in 4wh hi
