Default new motor/trans about to drop in... quick question...

Dropping my Iron 347 and 4L80E back in over the next couple days.

Can I bolt the starter on the motor before it goes in? Never have in the past but I figured I'd still be able to get to the converter bolts without the dust cover on the 80E, and it would be easier this way than fighting the starter in over my turbo oil drain, seems I have "engineered" it right in the damn way

Just wondering if someone has ever tried it this way and ran into problems... Worst case scenario, ill have to take it back out...

I will say the 80 will give you a little room on either side so it may be possible, but Im not 100% sure you will get away with it. I would try it at worse case you will have to take it off.

Nah, I'm not going to put it all in at once... Motor, then trans... I've decided against dismantling my entire front end...

you dont have to take the front clip off, we did it without removing anything other then the radiator.

Bringing up the wiring you may not be able to. The wires are fairly short and if you can not reach it bolted it will have to go on after.

Why wouldn't the wires reach the starter?? They've gotta reach it somehow?

just saying you may not be able to reach the back of the starter when it is bolted up in order to install the 2 wires. You may have to keep the motor up some if you are going to try and install the starter first, and Im not sure the wires are long enough for that. Maybe my POS is just PITA
