Default New Guage Cluster Mileage

I just got an SS guage cluster for my truck, but didn't get the mileage programmed in. Can the dealership tell the real mileage with their Tech II or is the mileage only recorded in the guage cluster? I just don't want to lose my warranty.

The mileage is also stored in the BCM.

What a pain! I called a few dealers to see if they could program my mileage and got prices from $155 to $170, wtf? I called a place that repairs the clusters said that they could reprogram the new cluster, but they would need the old one for and exchange. Why?

If I knew that this would be such a pain in the ***, I would have never bought the stupid cluster.

Then who's to say you didn't lie to possible scam someone when selling your vehicle. I'm not saying this is what your doing but its what the company will probably think.

You are in possession of both clusters, and for them to program the new one, they want to keep the old one? Is that what you are saying?

If so, tell them "Fine, give me $150, you can keep the old one"

I just e-mailed the guy who did mine. He sells them for about $200 and programs for free. I asked what he would charge you to just program it. I'll let you know when I get an answer.

That was fast. $100 to reprogram and that includes return shipping. Let me know if you want his info. I have heard of people getting it done for as little as $35, so you might want to keep looking.
