I posted this at another site, but wanted to get all of the opinons I can.
At less than 15,000 miles my factory 265/70R17s Bridgestone are shot. Feathered and balding, just plain terrible. I'm very disappointed in the quality of tire, and to answer the question I DON'T do burnouts, the only abuse I put my truck through is driving fast. However, this does give me a chance to buy better tires, maybe bigger tires. I plan on keeping my factory lift. (no $$$ to change that). I was considering 285/70/17s.. or 285/75/17s.... Will they cause any problems or do they fit ok? Brands I'm looking at ProComp AT, BF Goodrich AT, and Mastercrafts (exactly the same as Cooper tires). Let me know. Need to get them before June, or else I won't pass state inspection.
The big thing is DO THEY FIT?????

 

285's will fit fine on stock wheels, very small chance you may have to give the bars a few turns...All depends on the price pro comp and bfg's are both good a/ts

 

I had the Goodyear Wrangler AT/S Silent Amours on my last truck - 275-70-17's - rotated them as told and got 78,000 miles with them with tread still left to go! When I went to get more, they still gave me $35 a piece for'em!

 

My factory tires were the if I remember right Ameritrac Generals. At 12,000 miles they were bald and had small chunks of rubber missing from what was left of the tread. I took proper care of the tires and only did a few burnouts. A friend of mine runs a used tire shop and got me 3 Michelins with approx 80% tread left for $90. I had to buy 1 brand new one and it cost $200. Going to these new tires made a huge difference in the way my truck rides and drives. I don't know the exact size but they are a half inch shorter and half inch wider than the factory tires.

I think I would complain to the dealer? Possibly have them replace the tires?
I do too many burnouts on the same tires and mine still look brand new (almost) at 10,000 miles!
I rotate every other oil change.
Seriously, somthing isn't right if a tire is bald at 15K.

 

Yeah, sometimes the factory alignment is not set correctly. My '99 Z71 was pretty out of whack and had alot of tire wear at 7,000 miles. The dealer fixed it and I got another 25-30K out of those tires.

 

Who gave $35 each for them?

I recomend contacting your dealer. There is an issue with those tires for that complaint and your dealer will likely replace them for free. I work for a Chevy dealer. We've replaced quite a few already for that issue.

 

Another great product from Firestone!!! At least they didn't blow out on you.......I guess.
