seems like OBS would be "classic" since NBS, NNBS, NNNBS and NNNNBS followed

The NBS was the first Silverado MODEL. The C10 Silverado was a trim. The OBS is C or K 1500.

NBS - new body style, would be more appropriate to say New - Model/Body - Silverado. Then it could have made more sense to go

well, NBS was labeled 'classic' in 2007...

That's only a way to refer to that 2007 year only NBS because it was a split year. GM could have waited 3 months to release in Sept like everyone else, but it looks like they just wanted a jump on (their deceptive) sales numbers so they can try and compare 6 months to everyone else's 3 months.

true... and with the 1999 & 2000 split models, they simply called them the "new sierra/silverado"
