Well my truck has started a ticking noise, it doesn't do it all the time. it ticks even when engine is warmed up. When you listen from the engine bay (like right above the valve covers) everything sounds just fine.

The noise does go up and down with rpm's

sounds like an exhaust leak
Any broken header bolts?
better check because the head of the bolt will break off anytime

 

yeah, driver side rear bolt broke off bout 20k miles ago. was just gonna wait til i upgraded the heads. i didn't feel comfortable trying to drill a straight hole with em still on the motor. Just hoping it's not a lifter. Because i have this cam and its going in next week

 

just so you know, when I swapped heads, I had quite a few bolt heads that were either already gone or snapped off. They snap right at the manifold flange, so there is ~3/8" of thread to grab at. I yanked the heads, and the snapped bolt came right out with a pair of pliers. They weren't seized up in the hole. Maybe I was lucky, but thats how it went for me.
