Dunno...what I do know is that the PCM had to learn and adjust to the amount of air coming in. It was similar to when I put the CAI on and the PCM had to relearn idle A/F etc. So I know it was getting more air. I think for the most part the air is going to take the easiest path...

Just thought I'd throw it out there.

just make a scoop that goes right behind the head light. when you go to the track just take the light out.
bigger hole for air, less bends for the air to take, and it gives the RAM effect.

Shakesvho Your hood is sealed directly to your air intake or does it just supply cold air? I would think closing the hole on the side of the air box "volant for instance" next to the fender and only letting the tow hook tube supply air would be a huge restriciton? Not sure which way to go? Open filter = high iat but greater flow. Box = lower iat but less flow..yes or no?

Wrong man! the volant only has that hole in the side and i gave it almost the same size hole just in the bottom. If its a restriction it would only be while your in "Park" revving it. any motion and it gives a pressure in the box.
I had the stock Volant box a few weekends ago and went consistant 12.12 - 12.14, i sealed the fender hole in the box and added the 4" tube in the bottom and went 11.92 - 11.95 spinning, so it cant be a restriction. Its RAM AIR not a ram air effect.
you gain more power from the box because of the lower IAT's and it creates a faster air speed through the intake
