This is on a 02 Silverado with 50k miles. The tranny wont get reverse and will never shift out of 1st gear. What would be his best bet as far as getting it fixed. I know several guys that can swap trannies. So the question would be whe would be the cheapest place to get one?

Well is the truck pretty much stock? To die at 50K sounds weird. I'd check the Shift Solenoids and the filter's O-Ring. Just drop the pan to do that. reply here or PM and I'll give ya the specs that the solenoids need to around.

 

**** my tranny on my '02 Z71 fucked up three times like that (with no more than 12k on the clock)....never would shift out of 1st gear.......

 

hey guys dont scare me...i have an 02 with 52k. my tranny goin out is my worst fear. i have absolute no money to fix it.

 

File this guyz tranny messed up too u have to have seen his truck it was a Charcoal gray silverado just like mine fleetside with the caddy conversion front clip from Beyond Limits it also had a magna chager that guyz tranny messed up acouple of times and he took it to the dealership and got it replaced broke down again and he got it replaced again it broke down again and replaced it but this time the dealrship installed a high performance tranny...!! which now that truck hawls alot of azz

 

Thankd for the help guys... I just talked to my friend this morning and he took it to the dealer and is getting the tranny repaired. I am not exaclty what it was, but his rapair came out to $1500+. Hopefully this time it will last him a longer while.
