My dream truck GM should offer.

I'm not saying the truck is better. I think the interior is fugly. So with a tune you can make your 5.3 have 401ft lbs at 3600rpms huh? I'm a GM fan and will continue to be, but I can recognize all accomplishments regardless of brand

you must remember that 400lbft is in a HEAVY *** truck so it kind of shoots itself in the foot... their hyped up commercials are BS... no way in hell they're accurate. I dont classify that engine as any type of accomplishment and thats my opinion... a motor that has problems breaking camshafts is hardly a breakthrough...

Aftermarket aside, the motor is a monster. I know the aftermarket exists, but do you think that just because the aftermarket is better that GM should leave it alone. In stock form, the power of the Iforce 5.7 is amazing. It pulls down low like my old 454 did, yet it doesn't die out at all on top. The L76 pulls great up top, but down low its got nothing on the Iforce. Its just my opinion, but go and test drive one before you cast your opinions in concrete. It took a drive for me to believe it. Think power under the curve
Of course the power of the Iforce is good stock form, it was built from day one to outpower all of the big 3's half ton truck motors, something called competition. When half ton Silverado's and Sierras get 6 speeds the Tundra won't be such a 'holy ****' in the seat of the pants. It isn't as it is. 380hp at the crank isn't amazeing, nor is the feel of a 14 second truck.
No suprise it pulls harder on top than a regular 454, what did pull hard on the top end back in the 80's when those were around? I haven't test drove one, don't plan on it, but I have rode in my bosses, it's nothing special, not the end to all motor on the truck market. I guess I'm missing the greatness of it!

Back at the end of "02" I tried to special order a 2WD SCSB truck with a 6.0l and a 5 speed manual....they looked at me like I was a crack head or something.
We ALL wish.

Well I have driven all the new truck Dodge Nissian Ford and Tundra. My uncle has a new tundra and we both pulled the same load the same distance and he has more low end then my truck. He can gain speed up hills a little better but my truck holds speeds better. The new 5.7 i force is no joke but there not a lot left in them. They are about all there is. I am a die hard chevy guy and the 5.7 iforce with the 6 speed is a better drive train then the 6.0 4speed. For a couple reason. The 6.0 is detuned cause the 4l70e can't handle more power in a big truck. And the other reason is the 70e sucks. It just sucks. I hate it. I have had 4 gm trucks 3 with 5.3s and the 4l60e and a 6.0 with a 70e its no better then the 60e. It sucks. I love my truck truck there is no comparison between the tundra and the silverado but the drive train is nice on the yota. The ford is the only comaprison on truck but there drive train sucks. The 6.2 is rumored to be going in in 2009 or 10 with the 6 speed in 08 or 09 with the 6.0 and 5.3. The 4.8 is going away and the 5.3 will be replaces with a 5.x(not be put out yet) and the 6.0 will be a 6.2 and they will all get the 6speed. GM has a lot left in the bag they just don't have the ability to build 600,000 6 speeds a year or 300,000 6.2 yet.

Here my vmax compared to my uncles tundra sorry for stealing the thread but can't let people be ignorant on the other trucks. And by the way the 5.3 not in the same conversation as the 5.6 titian 5.7 tundra or the 6.0 vmax. They are all better motors by far. I love the 5.3 great lil motor but don't try to compare it to more then it is.

The Toyota 5.7 is a decent piece and it sounds pretty good too. I wouldn't call it ground breaking in power output, fuel economy, or technology but it is on par with the competition for certain. The real difference is the fact that it comes with the 6spd and you can't get a 6spd regardless of engine choice from GM right now and that just plain sucks.
What I find peculiar is that GM decided to make the 6spd available in the HD trucks before they offer it in any of the ½ tons sans the ultra low volume Denali. There must still be a restriction on supply.
