Default My 05 an oddball?

05 GMC 1500 ECSB 5.3. 2 wheel drive rig and I have torsion bars / leaf suspension. I walked around 4 different lots the other day and could not find another like it. Not one. ALL of them and I mean ALL of them (04 and 05's) had coil / leaf EXCEPT all of the 4 wheel drive rigs. Looked in my GMC Sierra info booklet and could only find HD's with this config but ONLY in crewcab.

Nobody at either dealership could answer my Q's as to why I have Tbars on a 2 wheel drive truck, especially on an 05.

My thought was the truck came down the line initially intended to get the z71 package and somewhere was changed to a 2wd and they built it on the 4wd / HD platform.

Odd or no? Anyone else have this suspension config on a an NBS ECSB? Just wondering.

Does it have the accomodations for the front differential, as in the space for and mounting points for the diff?

if not, sounds like a 2wd HD frame...

No mounting points up front. I will crawl under the sucker tonight or tomorrow and snap some pics.

Tis wierd stuff, for sure. 4 different stealerships and could find one like it. Truck after truck - coil / leaf with the exception of HD's and Z71's.

Had two guys state it was an HD 1500 ECSB w/ 5.3 until I pointed out that even in their Sierra sales booklet that is not an option - only crew cabs.

The saga continues.

I know! I know! I bet you have the "Limited Appearance Package" from GMC. Check your glovebox for code B2E. Is your truck indigo blue or silver?

Does it have this stuff too?

Limited Appearance Package (B2E)
QR9 20 Chromed 5-spoke wheels
QSS 20 Tires (P275/55R20, touring blackwall)
Z60 High Performance Suspension Package
Unique Exterior Color 39U Indigo Blue.
Other Key Info
B2E Performance Package requires PDU LD Power Package - Vortec 5300, G80 Rear Locking Differential, and Z82 Heavy Duty Trailering ($1,000 OPD).
B2E Performance Package is compatible with PDB Safe & Sound Package ($1000 OPD).
B2E Performance Package is compatible with PDJ TX/OK/LA Discount ($1000 OPD).

Basically, the Limited Appearance Package truck is a VHO truck without the LQ9 6.0 motor, and if I remember right, the VHO trucks all have torsion bar suspension up front and use the same frame as yours.

Goooaaaaal! Gooooooaaaaal!

Nailed it! Thats it. You sir, rock.

I was unaware of this option when I purchased and couldnt find it anywhere. I just checked it out, took the test drive and liked it. Didnt pay attention to all the extras and such and did not keep the window sticker. Dont know why the hell the guys at all 4 dealerships couldnt tell me that by running the VIN.

Well damn - I got a VHO without the HO. Damn if that aint like a buffed **** body builder with a 5 inch pecker.
