Motor & Tranny in 2010 RCSB's?
#1
I'm trying to figure out exactly which 5.3 Motor & Tranny's com in the new 2010 RCSB, I found this on a site somewhere
"
The Generation IV Vortec 5300 engines are truck engines that share all the improvements and refinements found in other Generation IV engines. At present, four versions of the 5300 are in production: two iron block versions (LY5 and LMG) and two aluminium block versions (LH6 and LC9). All versions feature the Active Fuel Management system."
Not sure which one it would be, the LY5, LMG, LH6, or LC9? How would I find out? And also which tranny, the 6L60E or 6L80E? Just trying to figure it out so I can start building my Mod List accordingly, thanks for any help.

According to a GM powertrain media site I found a couple of years ago(they update the powertrains every year), its showing the:
LC9 in Silverados/Sierras/Yukons/Suburbans/Tahoess
LH9 in Colorados/Canyons
LMF in Savanah/Express Vans
LMG in Silverados/Sierras/Avalanch/Tahoes/Yukons/Burbans
LMG is shown as iron block
LH9 shown as non-AFM
LMf shown as iron block
Doesn't really differentiate as what models are in the cab configs though.
I'm including the link I've got, its showing these as the 2010 5.3's, ones you listed above can be found in the previous models for 2009.

This second link shows the 2009 models and shows some of the designations, maybe this will help you out too.

The RPO code for the 5.3 used in the 2010 RCSBs is LMG, I don't believe that you can get the all aluminum version in a regular cab yet. To find out if the truck has the LMG 5.3 the 8th digit in the VIN should be a 0(ZERO). As for the transmission it is a 6L80E, there is no 6L60E.
