Default More clutch problems

I am wondering if anyone else is having problems with their clutch, in similar trucks. Its a 2006 GMC 1500, 4.8 5spd. I am having a hard time excepting the statement,"It's a wear item". At 19K miles I paid $1600 for a new clutch. That was in Nov. Guess what, its out again, at 24.5k. What gives?

Ok, that included a $34.95 oil change, clutch kit and fly wheel.

I haven't the foggiest idea. I have an '06 2WD V6 5 speed with 25K, and mine is holding up just fine. No doubt I have less power, but I do have the same trans and I think Gibbs Silverados with almost 400hp are running a stock clutch. What went wrong the first time, material wear out? flywheel warped?, etc?

It could be so many things but I find it hard to believe the 2nd one went out that fast, if you're driving it the same it should have in theory went as long as the first one. Are you one of those people that sllllliiiiiiiiiiipppppppppppppp the clutch as you take off? If you're on a hill at a stop sign or red light do you hold the clutch in along with the brake or do you sit there consistenly for 5 minutes holding your vehicle still by slipping the clutch enough to hold it in one spot? Sounds to me though in all reality even a crappy driver with a manual trans should get 30K out of a clutch unless you intentionally try to kill it. I wonder if your clutch isn't locking up all the way? Perhaps a weak/worn pressure plate? Did they replace that the 2nd time around?

Dunno what to tell ya...my truck (00 4.8/5spd) went 79,000 on the first clutch...it was worn when i bought the truck but still second clutch has only complained when im in a big town creeping through traffic.

I bought a 99 cavalier 5spd to learn on, lol....perhaps you should do the same?

This time it is in the hydraulics. I know how to drive a stick. And no I do not slip the clutch. No I don't use the clutch to on hills.
