Might be old news, but anybody heard the scoop on the Grand Prix with the 5.3L yet?

The 4T65E in those cars are fairly strong, however they have problems a thrust washer on the carreir failing and sending metal throughout. Also have failing 4th gear clutch hubs, and TONS of pressure control solenoids failing causing shifting and shuddering issues. They may be strong enough to handle the power but certainly are not reliable. A spokesperson at SEMA said they are upgrading the internal trans parts considerably from the gtp version. Also the front wheels are an inch wider than the rears which is cool but I bet the will have cupping problems. All in all looks to be a nice car.

As someone who also has a GP in the driveway, I am glad to hear that it'll get the V8. However, I think the front wheels wider than the back is just retarded. It'll look like one of those silly import dragsters. They could have at least made the backs wider too so everything stays proportional, and the tires can still be rotated.
I don't think we'll look at them until the engine is facing the right direction, and the correct set of wheels (or all four) is driving it.
