Default Man! My video card is tweaked out!! JSmith or anyone help!

Well damnit all to hell, I thought my monitor was bad (Sony Trinitron) so I tried it on another computer and it works fine.

My Display is very blurred and has shadowing/bleeding all over.

I just flipped the monitor on a few days ago and this happened.

Any ideas?

Have you tried messing with the video card settings?
Did you build the computer yourself or did you buy it?
If you bought it built, did this video card come with the computer or did you buy a new one and put it in?
Wish I was there to take a look at it, its kinda hard troubleshooting over the internet

If I could heave this compueter 30 yards I'd take it skeet shooting!

I bought it in Dec '00. It is the OE 16meg Invidia card, it has been working fine until this point yesterday. It just went crazy all of a sudden.

I played with those setting to no avail. Reset the comp a few times too. I haven't the slightest what is wrong.

I think this may be a good time to invest in a 64meg card now...

Try restarting your computer up in safe mode to see if that stops the messy video. If it does, check out your video settings. Check your refresh rate, desktop size. Try setting the refresh rate low and the desktop size to 640x480, apply the settings and restart. Just an idea to try. Does your monitor have a degauss button or option (Demagnetize the monitor)??

Yea, I was gonna just say if it isn't an easy problem to fix, like maybe the card came loose from the AGP slot or something, then just buy a new one.
I don't know if you have a Fry's Electronics store in Texas, but here they sell decent 128MB cards for around $100.
Oh yea, don't buy Nvidia, they suck.
Get an ATI card, they are better.
But that's just my opinion. I just built my dad a computer with a $400 ATI 256MB card...he's a video game freak, so he wanted the best.

Yea, if you haven't already tried that, the different resolution is a good idea. But if the video card is fucked I don't see that working. I've never run into many video card problems, either it works or it doesn't
Btw, he said his monitor is fine since he tried it on another computer...so that's good I'd rather shell out for a new card than a new monitor

Sorry I'm late to the table but those are all good starting points so I won't repeat them. You can even try pulling the card out and cleaning the contacts with some light compressed air if it's really dusty. How is the display when you log in under safe mode?

First, you guys are talking to a software impared person. I can assemble a computer but can't make anything work as software makes me angry. Maybe it is just that bastard Bill Gates and his Microsoft programs...jackass.

I did degauss my monitor, I played with every setting on it. The took that heavy thing to work and it is okay! I'd be super mad if a $400 monitor just up and stopped working.

We have Fry's here...they took over Incredibe Universe here. The employee's (onthe floor at least) there are some of the biggest morons I have ever had the time of day to attempt to deal with. They seem to know little to nothing about products/their jobs/obligation of employment.

I'd like to get a small video card like 32megs...I don't play many games any more just an occasional total annihilation (sp?) of people in Command/Conquer or a little Unreal Tourn. Is ATI the brand to get?

How do I start it up in safe mode? Why would my video card just take a dump all of a sudden?

hold down the f8 key while booting up and then choose option 3 for safe mode.

Dude, I know EXACTLY what you mean about the employees there. They don't know **** about computers. I think we know more than all the employees there...I love Fry's, its like Toys R Us...

An ATI card is my pick. I've tried Nvidia and some other small names, and ATI has been my fav.

about safe mode, Shark_g is right....
