Aight guys. most of you know how it is. Ya buy the truck, just hopin to do a mod here and a mod there. Well then all of the sudden ya say well the hell wit it and get an idea to go extreme. Well i have a 4.8 in my truck now. I helped one of my friends build an LS1 camaro that run low 12s with a crappy suspension setup and alot tranny prbs. so it should run almost low 11s. Well heres the deal. Im 17 and im swaping out my 4.8 for an LS1 outta a like 98 or 99 camaro. My attempt is to put 450 hp to the wheels if not more. Im gonna attempt to run 12s high or low i just wanna get into the 12s. Well i just wanted to get some opinions, ideas, suggestios bla bla. Well guys give me some feedback so i get some ideas

 

It sounds like you have a good idea. It is just a direct swap for a ls1 longblock and you will drop about 60 pounds up front with the lighter block. The ls1 is a strong motor, I have a friend with a 99 camaro with a stock ls1 with just intake, exhaust & free mods & if his clutch was worth a crap he would be in the 12s. If you plan on 450 hp to the wheels I hope your truck is all-wheel-drive or 4-wheel drive because you are going to have fun trying to get that much hp to the ground. Hopefully someone else will chime in there are a couple of guys on this forum that has done the swap, you should do a search for ls1 swap to find out more info.
