Default LS1 Fans - Motors Failing?

so i have a problem. ever since i've owned my LS1 fans one of them (the "higher" one on the passenger side) has always been pretty loud. i figured maybe the motor was going out in it or something. well last weekend i fired up my truck for the first time in about a week and it was cold out. well soon as the truck warms up and the fans kick on they are making an awful whining sound. i pop the hood and it's the same fan that was really loud before. after some time the whining went away. so here's my question: should i replace the motors? is this even possible? or should i just buy another set of LS1 fans?
