LQ4... the difference is compression. the LQ9 just has different pistons.

LQ9 internals are different then the LQ4 the LQ9 is a built factory motor with flat top pistons were as a LQ4 is your typical motor

LQ9 and LS2 have same internals

The LQ9 rods are beefier than the LQ4's. The LQ4 has dished pistons and lower compression. It'll be better for a boosted application. Should be cheaper than a LQ9 as well.

the LQ9 with LQ4 pistons would be ideal for boost and if you went with a thicker head gasket then stock you would be around 9.1 CR which is pimp and have a stout bottom end
