Default Lo profile tires?

I was all set to put some 295/40/20 on, when the guys told me that the tires weren't rated for my weight and they wudn't put them on. Anyone running lo-pro tires and had any probs? I guess the min sidewall height is an issue and wondering if anyone can clarify or has experience and can tell me if I can ignore the warnings?

for the avalanche?

looks like most the tires that size are rated at 2100 lbs.

2100 lbs x 4 = 8400 lbs. do you know the GVRW for your truck? can't be much more than that. what tires were they?

edit: looked up the GVWR and it said 7000 lbs. I would ask what specs they go by, because it seems like they should work.

7000GVW is correct, but none of the manufacturers sites offer anything skinnier thanj 305/50...seems that ratio is the min for the wght and anything shorter is at ur onw risk.
Any more input?

Won't be a problem. My dually is running 295/35/24s and the stepside has 275/35/20s.

I agree that if I go up in wheel size to 22 or 24 I can drop the profile as it maintains the overall wheel dia...but if u go shorter like 295/35, then its about 1+" smaller and thats where u run into probs. R/

Just because its a shorter overall diameter doesn't mean it won't hold the weight. I think thats what your saying

Exactly...I assume thats why the tires dont get offered for our trucks and why the big shops systems wont allow them to install them. I'm looking for as many feedbacks as poss from guys who are driving on smaller overall diameter/lo pro tires and what risks I might be getting into - if any?

The risks? A harsher ride. They will work. The problem you are running into is that some of these "super stores" will not put any tire on a vehicle that is not the "factory" tire size. You need to go to a different supplier, and have them put the tires on and call it a day.
