Got back from the perfromance shop after talking to a really nice guy who is going to install my blower, injectors, and SMC kit for $500-600 (he's also going to do the motor swap for $500 . This guys got a dyno and is supposed to be great at wideband tuning. After waiting 5 weeks I'll have my new PCM and have it set at 6-7 until the 10 # pulley comes and have it dyno/wideband tuned instead of having to wait for another PCM, but I digress.
Its a Ford performance shop and they had some BAD ****!!! They had an 03 cobra with ported, pulleyed blower and whatever else putting down near 500 rwhp!! This is before whatever the secret install was (guy was kinda gay bout talking, he said he makes alot of money with the car so I didnt push it). They had a Lightning putting down near 600hp!!! It was a Kenne Bell blower, bigger intercooler and all kinds of other stuff. It was nasty!! Which brings me to the old question. Why doesnt GM get in this market. Both of these vehicles had factory trannies and as far as I know bottom end, although the L might have had some stuff. Now I dont know if these number are inflated I know there are different ways to dyno that greatly affect your numbers, but ****, Parish put down 497 after the crazy stuff he did!!
Guess the whole experience kind of enlightened me. I was really thinking a blown 6.0 with a valve job and blower would be layin the smack down on some L's. Guess not as many as I thought.

 

Those Lightnings have some serous potential.

 

There is always going to be someone faster than you .. Just keep trucking and when you hang with or beat a couple of those Lightning guys.. they will be like dang.. hes got some work in that thing.. heck i wish my truck had half the stuff you have in yours....

 

See that is exactly why I try not to trash talk particular brands or models of cars/trucks. There is always some car out there with some crazy mods that make you go "WOW!" That thing is quick, or makes serious power.

I laugh at all the Brand Loyal fanatics that worship their brand and have nothng but bad things to say about anything else. If they actually took the time to learn about the other cars they'd realize how much potential other vehicles have.

 

On a side note, do you guys think that when all is said and done I'll be able to hit high 12's??
On whitts old setup he pulled a 13.29 with the 5.3, radix, 3000 stall, I/E, and I think a PCM.
I'll have a 6.0 and 4L80 with the vortech at 10-11#, Alky, wideband/ dyno tune, I/E, 3500 stall, valve job on heads, and 20's. I also be a little lighter (no bumper or spare).
Would I need a blower cam??

 

Get yer truck weighed on an accurate scale and I'll tell ye.

 

I seriously considered one before buying my Silverado.
