Default Last minute decision. Help!

Ok, heres the deal. My current transmission is the stock unit, with 116,000 miles of hard driving on the clock. For the most part it drives decent under normal driving conditions, but whenever i floor it, it has a slow 2-1 shift, and when it goes to shift back into 2nd, alot of times if I'm still at WOT, it will bounce off the rev limiter before going into 2nd. I need to have Justin @ blackbear take a look at my tranny pressures again to make sure that is not the issue. But I have been saving for a built tranny and a stall for awhile now, but I have also been thinking about getting a truetrac and 4.10s.

So basically what I'm wondering is, since my tranny still has pretty good daily driving manors right now, should i hold off on the tranny and do the rear end and gears first, because after all, it would be alot cheaper to do the gears and locker. Also, will the 4.10s and locker put more stress on my tranny, causing it to break?

And I'm tired of the 1 wheel peels

Edit: Yes, I'm still going to do the built tranny/stall/tranny cooler after I do the gears, if that is the path I take.
And sorry, another question I have is, if I get a tranny cooler now for the stock unit and it breaks, will it contaminate the cooler, and cause me to have to buy another one?

I would let justin tweak the tune a little bit and see if that will hold ya for a little bit... If you get the tranny and verter your one wheel peel will be 10x worse than it is now...

nope. with the 4.10s and trutrac it was a nice strait line. with the open rear it would throw me sideways hard, alomost into curbs... got a g80 now though

BTW. i would get the gears and posi first.

Looks like I'll be depositing some money into my account Monday and ordering a truetrac and gears from rons machine shop on ebay. What does an install usually cost for a locker and gears?

I'm hoping I can get everything (parts+install) for under 900

$560 for the gears, locker, and install kit linky

Think I can get an install for about 300 or less?

When mine went out it did what your describing. to the T. About 2 weeks later I was on my way home going 55 and all the sudden it started bouncing off the limiter. had to drive home in 2nd gear.
Luckily 2nd gear is good for a lot of mph's so it was just a lil noisy.
Also a good thing I ordered an FLT4 when it started slipping 2-3 shifts. I was down for 1 week.
