"Keyless entry" tailgate?
#1
I just got to thinking about this when my friend asked me to find him a good deal on a lock for his '04 ecsb tailgate. My '02 Suburban's back hatch requires me to unlock all the doors using the key remote first before I can open the door using the handle. On first push of the button the driver door unlocks, and the second time pushing the button all doors unlock. Each push of the button the headlights and tail lights come on to show everything worked alright.
How would we go about wiring this up into the tailgate of this Silverado? Anyone look into this before? All we'd want it to do is unlock and lock using the key remote.

I suppose you could if you spliced the wires for the "power tailgate lock" in the above mentioned kit into your factory side drivers lock. You do need to have a BCM capable of wireless entry though

if you want it to unlock with the first keypad press then wire it into the driver door lock. if you want it to unlock on the second press then wire it into any door lock EXCEPT for the driver door.

All of the 03+ Wireless controllers are in the power Window/Lock controls in the doors, not the BCM.
I would just figure out the schematic for the passenger door lock actuator and wire the Tailgate lock in Parallel with it.

I have the powergate on my truck and I tapped into the door lock wires in the driver's side fuse panel. Locks and unlocks with the doors, whether via the remote or the interior door lock switch.
