K&N arguement

Even the nation's top tech can have a problem with an air filter that you have to oil, it's just the nature of the filter. I highly doubt that the filter and/or CAI ruined his engine, unless of course, as mentioned, the MAF got contaminated and sent a false reading to the PCM which in return incorrectly adjusted the A/F ratio. If that's the case, then the oiled filter could be the root cause of the issue.

I had a drop-in in a 1.5L Civic for many (50K or so) miles and it always ran the same(small SOTP increase).
My intake has been on for about 20K so far...no problems.

If he is working around dust and concrete the wet guaze filters are the ones NOT to have. Very poor fine contaminent filtration. I would be curious at seeing an oil analysis of his oil in those conditions. I would bet that the Silicon is SKY HIGH.
Take a look at the chart on this page to see how these oiled filters compare to even the cellulose paper OEM filters. http://www.amsoil.com/storefront/eaa.aspx?zo=1436102

What exactly went wrong on the engine and what proof does he have that the K&N caused it?
I personally don't care for them because of the fact that they do filter less and it doesn't justify the cost and risk of using it. Why risk letting extra dirt through and get less than 5hp from it???
All I've ever noticed from the kits was extra noise.

[SIZE=2][COLOR=Red][B] If that idiot
put to much oil on his filter yes he will have problems.
He can contact K&N and they can show him all vehicles listed with 100000 plus mile under bad conditions that never had compression problems.
