Default K&N air filter vs K&N air intake

does anyone know the difference in HP/MPG between the replacement K&N filter and the K&N intake? I just bought the filter for my 05 5.3 silverado cc and thinking about getting the intake in the future but if theres not much of a difference in HP/MPG then theres not really a point of spending $250 more....

I have the filter in my 05 L33 5.3 and it seems alright, but I am tired of the oil and think it might be bad for my MAF and was thinking of switching to the volant CAI with the powercore filter as it doesn't need to be serviced at all and should be as good if not better. I do clean my MAF with the cleaner they make for it, but would like to get away from the oil cover air cleaners. I don't know of anyone running the volant with the powercore, but it you look it up, it seems much better to me and looks pretty cool as well.

I have had both. Zero difference in MPGs and no noticeable HP gain between the two. The intake is louder, that's about all.

if thats the case I don't see the point in paying $300+ for the intake

The powercore is a new type that volant is using with their kit, it is made by donaldson, and looks pretty cool.... I will be able to tell you in a month or so what I think about it.

So you are saying the stock airfilter is just as good? I am only willing to go with the powercore to get rid of the oil cover filter, I think they are to hard to clean and goof with the sensors.

I have the Volant that originally came with an oiled filter and ditched the oiled filter for a comparable Amsoil dry filter...I'm pretty sure that they also make a cleanable factory replacement filter that both flows and filters better than the original factory filter...if I were to do it over, I'd mod my stock air box, get the Amsoil dry filter, and mod or make a new air intake tube
