Default interesting starting issue

i recently just bought a 02 silverado z71, 170k in pretty good shape. lately when its cold or sits for a few hours on the first try to start it just cranks and the 2nd time i try it starts instantly. just today it almost seemed like it was almost misfireing the first time i tried to start it, i have no check engine light, but im gonna check the fuel cranking pressure and then maybe look into a cam sensor or a crank sensor.

autozone lists 2 pumps available one with one connector on top of the sending unit and one with two on top. anyone know what % maybe of most of the vehicles having?

is it just the fuel tank pressure sensor on one and not on the other? i havent got under my truck but maybe i can fell/see for how many connectors it has, just wanna get this fixed asap incase it might leave me stranded. just thought id ask

thanks !

sounds like a failing fuel pump to me. not sure about the connector count, but the easiest way to replace that pump it to lift the bed off, dropping the tank sucks.

when you start it turn the key on and wait a bit.... let the pump build some pressure... then try to start it... but yea likely the pump is going... put a fuel pressure gauge on it and see where your at it should be between 55-60 psi.... and should hold there while driving.. not fall..

the pump that i changed on my dads 2000 came with the different plugs incase you needed to adapt... and yes lift the bed off... way easier....
