Here's my train of thought (bear with me, sometimes the "train" gets de-railed!)
There's going to be an all-aluminum 5.3 in the Trailblazers. The S-series replacement will be based on the Trailblazer.
Even if GM doesn't offer it as a factory option, sounds like the new Colorado trucks would make one helluva candidate for an LS-1 swap. Even a 4.8 @ 270/285 would make for a screamin' truck! Imagine a 345-horse 6.0 HO! It might even be a bolt-in swap! Maybe another round of Sy/Ty's for GMC?
But, GM will probably drop the ball on this one too. I know it's a pipe dream, but a durn nice one if I do say so myself! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

I lost sleep waiting for GM to put a V8 in a S10. Every magazine you picked up had another V8 concept S10 that "Might make it to production". <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> Well, after years of torture I finally just went and built one myself. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
I don't see any reason why they would start making what people want now...that would be too logical. <img src="http://64.127.132.31/smilies/grayspock.jpg" alt=" - " /> Oh damn, let me just stop my rant while I'm still relatively calm. <img src="http://64.127.132.31/smilies/rant.gif" alt=" - " /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
I'm waiting for the aluminum 5.3L block to see how far it can be overbored. If it goes out far enough, there's another ~70+ pounds off the front of the truck. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Oh BTW, I've heard the biggest engine the Colorado's will be getting is a 5 cylinder engine based off the Trailblazers inline 6. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Mad]" src="gr_images/icons/mad.gif" />
Maybe they could throw a turbo on it or something.

what will happen is they will make a concept colorado that will have something like yur idea...prolly a blown 6.0L with full exaust and a plethera of bolt-ons. it will be expected to run 13s out the showroom. it will be a ***** out ford, dodge, and import KILLER! COLORADO SS - ONE BADD *** PERFORMANCE MACHINE!!
then the production model will come out and it will be nuthin more than a pretty version of the regular colorado with a slightly better engine. it will run 15s stock. it will be a sad excuse for an SS (as all the current SS models are, camaro excluded). it will get its *** handed to it by performance ford trucks. COLORADO SS - WHAT A SHITTY EXCUSE FOR A SPORT TRUCK.
GM needs to get their crap together.
