Default Instrument Guage Questions Help??

Ok I need a new ipc, and would preffer to install an ss or escalade ipc.. few concearns...
1) what programming caddy? or chevy?
2) my truck is 2500, most 1/2 ton trucks have vacuum boosters, and if proper signal, or incorrect signal is received by ipc from booster pump it will throw message light on, if i put an ipc from a ss, or caddy will i get idiot light? or will programming from my 2500 correct this?
3) only way to have correct mileage programmed in replacement clusters is to have it done at rebuilder level, dealers cannot do this, and dealers wont get you an ipc without code from back of old one, vin, and mileage, without paying an outragous core charge..

SO ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED, I HAVE TO REPLACE IT, SO WHY NOT MAKE IT LOOK BETTER THANKS.......
