Default Instant MPG display 99-02

I hate that my truck doesnt have any of the extra displays that a 03+ truck has, and I'm wondering what it would take to add one, or change over to a 03+ cluster?

I would really like a 120 mph speedo and a trans temp gauge.

I am not sure what all would be required to swap to a 03+ cluster but if your main wants are a 120 speedo and a trans temp gauge there are 99-02 clusters available that have both. The Denali cluster is very popular.

I imagine that there are some sensors involved used to measure the mpg, oil life remaining, and other readouts standard on the 03+ clusters. It could be an expensive undertaking. Just my 2 cents.

The Denali's and Escalade's had a DIC in the center console. These are adaptable to your truck - requires wiring it up properly and finding a place to mount it.

As already mentioned, a Denali or Escalade cluster would get you this.

Ya, I have been looking around at Denali and Escalade clusters for awhile now. I think I like the Escalade one a bit more, but at the moment I'm really saving up for a cam swap and LT headers. Just getting a feeler of more mods to come.

Speaking from experience on this type of swap, the cluster itself will work fine (tranny gauge too). But all the extra DIC readouts (MPG, Oil Life, etc) will not even show up unless your truck all ready has those functions enabled. For example, my truck the DIC only shows mileage and hours and trip. I swapped in a SS cluster the trans gauge worked just fine, but I did not get any extra DIC readouts. If you want the extra stuff you have to get the BCM programed accordingly....

would a dealership be able to program my BCM?

I know it is probably not possible through the OBDII port.
