Angry I'm not too happy...

What do you get when you cross a drunken southerner, a snow storm and a ‘01 GMC?

Well if you are me you’ll get a totaled truck and a big check coming from your insurance company.

Last night I was up in Northern Wisconsin visiting a friend for the day/night. We had stopped in town to pick some things up at one of the local stores that was still open that late at night. It had been snowing most of the day so the roads were ****. For those of you that don’t know, here in this wonderful state our road plows stop at like 11pm or so…maybe sooner. So that means that the roads had not been plowed for at least over an hour. Anyway, we are headed back to her house driving along a two lane road that now seemed like a one lane ice skating rink. We are about half way to the house when I see some lights coming up on me pretty fast for the road conditions. I’m thinking great just what I need, some ******* who thinks that they can do 85 on ice. (They were probably doing about 55 in reality) I pull as far over as I can safely as they start to pass me. Just as he passes my front bumper I’m in a total whiteout. Can’t see a damn thing and I am guessing that they couldn’t see me either because they cut back over into the small semi cleared off path that was our lane too soon. Bam! Hit my front end and almost spun me. Well actually did spin me 90 degrees. So now I’m doing about 30 sideways on ice/snow in the middle of nowhere and the guy in front of me is fishtailing. He slams on his brakes trying to slow down. If you have ever drove on ice you know that you shouldn’t do that, it just makes things worse. And things did get worse. I somehow managed to gain control of my truck straightening it out enough that I could now steer. Sadly it was too late to save my truck. I ended up smashing into the rear end of the car that hit me. When the cops finally arrive they do the usual things in a case like this. Come to find out the guy is from Florida, it’s his first time driving in snow AND he was coming from the bar. I guess he had rented a cabin here to “enjoy the winter activities.” Evidently one of those things is smashing up my truck.

So now I have no more truck... My build up has been put on hold and I’m stuck driving my Saturn everyday. I don’t know if I’ll by another truck or not with the insurance money. If I do I know it won’t be a newer one. Maybe an ‘81-‘87 C10 and do a street rod style build up. One thing is for sure. The next snow storm someone else is driving!

Sorry about the language but I am still slightly angry that my truck is gone. But I’m also oddly amused at the situation…

That's kinda weird...I have a 2001 Sierra and a 92 Saturn SL2 as my daily driver.

Sorry to hear about your truck though...but the 73-87 trucks are sweet. I think my next build will be something a bit older as well.

Thanks you guys.

I'll see what I can do about getting some pics up of my truck.

Yes that guy did have some ***** for driving 55 in the snow, but then again he had been drinking. Probably felt 10 feet tall and bullet proof...

The main reason I am looking at an older C-10 is due to the price of them. I can get sone in near mint condition for less than 5K around here, less than that if it's jsut one in drivable condition. With the money left over from the insurance check I can have a decent street/strip truck. Plus the first Chevy that I ever drove what our then farm truck, a '76 C-20. It'll bring back memories...lol

WOW!! What a dipshit. When you go down south and its raining, let alone snowing on ocassion the whole place shuts down because most everyone is afraid to drive in rain or snow!!! What the hell made the fool think he all of a sudden knew how to drive in snow and ice??? Shoot the *** wipe I say!!! And send em back to the Bayou!
