Yep, I never thought I would but I need a new ride and I want a diesel. My only options are Dmax and cummins. POS-Stroke isnt. I talked to the GMC and Chevy dealers and none of them would work with me for what I want, but Dodge would. My bank only approved me for another $35K so I want to stay in that number with no out of pocket.
Soooo, I'm working on getting an 06' Mega Cab 4x4 one ton. There working with me to get it out the door for $35k even.
Not a bad deal with $10K under MSRP. If you've never seen a Mega Cab, go see it. Its freaking HUGE! I'm 6'1" and can stretch out back there with room to spare. Not to mention the rear seats recline!
I figure with a third kid on the way I need more room and I want something thats gonna last. The wife wanted a gay mini-van but one look at the MegaCab and she was sold too.
First mods will be strait pipe the exhaust, ditch the air box, and a Bully Dog tuner with "Crazy Larry" tune. Thats 230rwhp/430rwtq gain with just a tuner!!!!!!!
Mike, better get that LS1 powered truck of yours ready. Hope my cam helps you.

Dont get me wrong, I'm still and will always be a chevy man at heart. After so many modded and hopped up gassers that run fast I'm just tired of them not lasting. Or in the case of my Silvy I went to nuts with it makeing it fast that now I dont even like to drive it. With a Cummins or Dmax you can make huge numbers, run low 13's, get 20+mpg, do a parish and tow your garage behind you to the track, and still have it last 300,000 miles. A gasser even as good as the LS1's will wear out and need rebuilt after so much power so long.

I am surprised you aren't getting a better deal on a Chevy or GMC, especially with GM's recent financial problems. Good luck with the Dodge, the Cummins is a good engine. The only thing I don't like about the Megacabs is that the extra cab space seems like such an afterthought that the side profile looks terrible.

man congrats on the purchase. i don't know why they can't get you one for under 35k. they are selling them for that and less around here. i seriously was looking into a diesel, had one bought but i backed out. i just really don't need it and with diesel prices holding high around here i just bought the one i have now. But congrats on the purchase--i didn't think they made the mega cab in the long box?
