Yes dealerships can take advantage of people and thats wrong, but you still did have a choice.

Some of the other posters really have gotten shitty deals when they left their trucks there. Thats something I would complain about.

In this case, I would be just be glad that you were smart enough to know that it was robbery and not give them anymore of my business. I doubt GM will actually do anything about a thing like this, but it does feel good to get it off of your chest.
It's the principle of the matter. He may have been smart enough, but that doesn't mean some old lady coming in for an oil change and leaving with a new oil pump is going to know any difference. The fact that they are trying to screw someone over is what he's complaining about. No business should be ran like that and GM should know about such dealerships because its bad for business.
the dealership i got my truck from is kinda pricey when it comes to buying a car but when i need parts i usually get a quote over the phone and then when the service desk see's who i am he throws a discount on it.

Now I either use my brothers scanner or go to R-Tard Zone, were they ask you if your truck is 2wd or 4wd for an oil filter part #.
Did the service advisor scan your truck? or did an actual tech do it??? I am a tech, an honest one. I dont care who comes up to our shop. If I hook a scan tool to your vehicle, I am getting paid. I dont get an hourly pay, just what I flag. And most dealers have a minimum diagnostic charge, now whether they told you about it before or not is a whole different story.

YEAH I WORK ATA DEALER... THIS SI TRUE... MOST DEALERS TELL YOU UP FRONT ITS 1 HOUR DIAGNOSTIC... WHICH VARIES DEPENDS ON THE DEALERS LABOR RATE... BUT HERE IN CALIFORNIA RANGES FROM 83 TO 120 PER HR.

UNFORTUNATELY FOR THE MOST PART I HAVE SEEN TAHT MOST PROBLEMS ARE CAUSED BY THE FRONT LINE (SERVICE WRITERS) NOT BEING UP FRONT AND JUST TRYING TO SNEAK STUFF IN.... AND WHEN CAUGHT THEY BLAME EVERYONE ELSE... ESPECIALLY US (PARTS) THEN THE WRITERS TURN THE TECHS AGAINST "US" (PARTS AGAIN) BY TELLING THEM WE ARE OVER CHARGING ON SERVICE JOBS.... YET THE WRITERS CAN SEE OUR COST ON THE PARTS BUT IT TAKES THE HEAT OFF OF THEM BECAUSE THEY CANT SELL THE JOBS, SO THE TECHS DONT GET PAID, AND SO THEY SAY THAT ITS BECAUSE WE ARE RAPING PEOPLE ON PARTS WHEN ITS ACTUALLY THE WRITER IS JUST HORRIBLE AT WHAT THEY DO...

SORRY DONT MEAN TO JACK YOUR THREAD

wow, I thought my dealership was the only one that worked like that. And as far as I know, we get pricing from GM, everyone pays the price from GM, and most of the parts have a cost that is too high, let alone the mark-up for list.

I agree with everything said, start bitching up the tree and things will get done,

I took my truck in to fix a leaky master cylinder and i had my Vig3200 and 4.10's in the truck "Instant Burnout" and i had my tune still in it.

It was there 2 days and i was on the road in my POS Rental and suddenly MY TRUCK flew by me at OVER 100MPH on the shoulder in traffic. i immediatley called the dealer and asked what the status of my truck was, they said it was being washed and it was ready for me to pick up, i got back and started asking why my truck had passed me at over 100mph on I-10 they said it hadn't i got pissed at this point and walked into the back to find my truck sitting there with rubber coating the back fenders and wheel wells. i eventually got a brand new set of proxes. I WAS PISSED

I have no idea who scanned it, I told them I just needed the computer scanned for codes. They came back and told me the code and told me the bill!
