Does it cool down at all if you hit the highway and the converter locks for a few miles?
The tranny shifts fine, isn't making any kind of odd sounds, the fluid smells fine. It does drop on the beltway, but that was around town driving, the cooler isn't very big that came with it...

John, 250* is way too high. Your setup is more wicked than my older truck, but here's what it had in it.
89 RCLB w/ a mild LT1 swapped in. Built 4l60E w/ a stall only bout prolly 400-600 rpms over stock. Largest B&M cooler made, a deep trans pan ( IIRC 2 extra qts) . Autometer tranny gauge thru a manifold for most accurate reading. I don't think it went over 170* (even in heat) ever. Oh ya, 2 Spal fans.
Just like other LT1's, reverse cooled & I added a 170* t-stat. While no Gen3, my swap was still in a truck.

If you are okay with it...great. Get a cooler on there and report back. Keep in mind, dirttrack is right when he gives his run down on what the temp would be by looking at the gauge...but my battery voltage now says about 14.x something on the dash needle, scanning it says 13.6. So it's just a tool. And yours says HOT.

Yes I am going to get a 30k cooler, now that I think about it, I even ?? the thought of using the one that came with it, it is only about 10 inch long, 7 wide, so that def is the prob. No that is too F#$KN hot for my likings... I think I am going with a tru cool or the derale, or the jegs, who know but def a bigger cooler

believe me, i had the 28k and it still wasnt enough, dont waste your money, get the 40k from tru-cool, the 30k wont be enough after a few WOT runs, the 40k will keep up with it for sure... I'll send you a link to where i bought mine when i get home, they were only about $110 if i remember right..

when i bought mine, i check thru all the sponsors and nobody sold tru-cool coolers so there shouldnt be a problem me posting this? mods, correct me if im wrong..

i have the largest b&m cooler and would run about 200 , i then got a fan installed and it helped out alot, it will get a little over 1/4 on the cluster tranny guage.

good example here, how much is the biggest b&M cooler? $80? plus the fan? it almost equals out to the same as the tru-cool 40k, not saying that your setup doesnt work, but with the trucool you dont have to worry about wiring a fan to it, i have never seen mine over 170-180 during the summer and that was with alot of back to back WOT runs when we were tuning it, ,,, in the winter time you'll see 100-120max if that...

mangled03gmc, looks like you have a very nice drivetrain/tranny setup, i wouldnt take anyshort cuts...
