I have new stock head bolts that I will cut you a deal on. I'd rather do that than see you snap an old one off in the block!

Good idea. The GM bolts are torque to yield which means your tightening them to almost their breaking point which stretches and changes the shape of the bolts. They can only be used once.

 

well i guess they are still useful for pulling the engine out of the truck and holding it on the stand.

 

I do believe you can reuse ARP bolts.

 

Yes, just not any torque to yield bolts. The ARP bolts are torqued to their reccomended Ft lb specification and can be reused.

 

The head bolts stretch when you tighten them, thus if you try to reuse them you run the risk of breaking them.

i like how everyone says not to reuse head bolts, but its ok to reuse the torque to yield connecting rod bolts and main cap bolts??..i just dont get it..
