I'm sure it's the same for any year, but on the '99+ there are two screws that hold the taillight in and they are accessible by lowering the tailgate. Too easy. The bulb is removed by rotating the socket either clockwise or counter...

i could get to that part but to remove the bulb was hard its an 05 it was stuck in there pretty good, until i was like screw it and pulled it out the hard was those things are set in there pretty good that it split the plastic part of the bulb in half.

Mine get like that as well.Just turn it so you know its in the pull out postion lol.No pun intended.Then wiggle it while pulling.Thats how i got mine out.It was stuck like a bitch though...took a few mins to get her out of there.

i was afraid to break it on my hand but it comes out with some wiggle and pull but those things are stuck there purty good!!
